66ers Pull Off Thrilling 5-2 Win in Extras
|
Stockton got a terrific game from second baseman John Glidden. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Inland Empire, 5-2. Glidden went 4-6 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win belongs to John Showe in relief. His record improves to 3-4. Danny Hudson took the loss for Stockton. The last-place 66ers are now 31-56, the Ports 45-42.
Inland Empire used the clutch hitting of Tony Vensor to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the 66ers ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Vensor said. "That's how it goes."
