Both teams had their chances, but the San Jose Giants eventually prevailed.

Jason Cranford, who is tied for 7th in the CAL with a 2.40 ERA, was locked in. The right-hander led the San Jose Giants to a 5-4 win against the High Desert Mavericks at San Jose Municipal Stadium. Jose Fabian earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record is now 2-2.

San Jose took a 5-4 lead on Angel Burgus's 5th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Burgus hit in the bottom of the eighth, left High Desert pitcher Ernesto Leos visibly frustrated.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Burgus.

San Jose, at 55-33, sits in first place in the North Division.
