Behind the hitting of Juan Alvarez, the Modesto Nuts stopped the Lake Elsinore Storm, 3-2. Alvarez went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs for the Nuts. Ryan Brooks, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The victory gives Modesto a record of 58-31.

Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 24-year old right fielder Matt Manning had a chance to be the hero. Lake Elsinore pitcher Bill Pufahl had other ideas. But with one out, Manning hit a sacrifice fly. The Nuts had themselves a dramatic win.
