The inspired effort of Lake Elsinore right fielder Josh Grillot was not enough to prevent a loss, 8-4, to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. Grillot was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. After today's action, Rancho Cucamonga sits at 62-27, while Lake Elsinore falls to 52-37.

Rancho Cucamonga used a well-timed hit by Jonathan Covas to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Quakes ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Covas told the Rancho Cucamonga Herald.
