Dennis Wesseling did all he could to help his team prevail. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Lancaster JetHawks from losing the game, 8-7, to the Bakersfield Blaze in 10 innings at The Hanger. Wesseling went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Bakersfield reliever Jeremy Waynick picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Brian Penn was saddled with the loss. Bakersfield is third in the North Division with a record of 49-41.

Bill Macias provided a timely hit. The Bakersfield shortstop delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the tenth inning to put the Blaze on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.

"We just battled, never quit, and continued to grind out at-bats trying to create some opportunities," said Bakersfield manager Jerry Zuniga.
