66ers Suffer 7-2 Road Loss
|
Stockton second baseman Sam Bowes played a vital role in his team's 7-2 conquest of Inland Empire. He was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for Stockton. The winning pitcher was Alex Cruz. His record now stands at 2-1. The right-hander went 7.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits for the Ports. The Ports now have a mark of 43-49.
Had Joe Harbin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Harbin hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Ports.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Stockton manager Jon Rosales.
