Guardians Sunk by Blue Jays
|
The Toronto Blue Jays picked up a win at Rogers Centre, dropping the Cleveland Guardians, 5-3. Billy Demeter was the difference-maker. Demeter yielded 2 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 5, and struck out 9. His record improves to 1-1. The Blue Jays raised their record to 6-6.
Toronto center fielder Enrique Andrade contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 18th hit of the season and put the Blue Jays ahead, 4-2.
"Billy pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Toronto manager Rodney Smith.
