Stockton pitcher Nick Deatherage had a large part in his team subduing the Bakersfield Blaze, 1-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Stockton reliever Josh McCloud picked up the win to move to 1-2. Shawn Zahn suffered the loss. Stockton, with the win, climbs to 31-65.

Stockton took a 1-0 lead on Todd Moss's 1st double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Moss hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Bakersfield pitcher Jeff Slovinsky visibly frustrated.

"Our pitching was the difference tonight," Deatherage said.
