The High Desert Mavericks got a marvelous performance from pitcher Aaron Howard. The right-hander kept the Rancho Cucamonga offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-2 High Desert victory at Stater Bros. Stadium. The winner was Howard. He threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was John Calvert. High Desert is in 4th place in the South Division with a record of 41-57.

The Mavericks got a big at-bat from first baseman Matt Allegra. For the game, Allegra went 1-3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 20th double of the season gave High Desert a 3-2 lead.

"We did a lot of things right," said Allegra.
