The Bakersfield Blaze got a superb performance from pitcher Tommy Houston, but the Stockton Ports still won the game, 5-2. Houston threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The 4th-place Ports lifted their record to 44-55.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Joe Harbin? The Stockton first baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Ports on top, 2-0. For the game, Harbin had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
