Leach Lifts Blaze to 6-3 Win
|
The Bakersfield Blaze handed the Stockton Ports a 6-3 defeat at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. Center Fielder Jonathan Leach starred for Bakersfield. He went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 3 runs. Joe Greeno earned the win, while 23-year old left-handed pitcher Dan Berry took the loss for Stockton. Jared Skinkis earned the save for Bakersfield, his 21st of the year.
The Blaze benefited from an error in the bottom of the second inning. Bakersfield was leading 2-1 when Marco Guerrero hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Bakersfield in front, 4-1.
"It was a good team win. Everybody threw something in," Guerrero told the Bakersfield Gazette.
Bakersfield sits in 4th place in the North Division at 46-54.
