Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Bakersfield Blaze and Stockton Ports.

The Bakersfield Blaze faced a tough opponent in Stockton pitcher Cory Brunner, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark by a final score of 3-1. Brunner went 6 innings and allowed no runs. The save was credited to Aaron Craig, his 11th.

Bakersfield took the lead, 3-1, on Jose Onzales's 9th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Stockton pitcher Jason James in the bottom of the eighth.

After the game, Onzales lauded his team's effort. "We kept our focus on the task at hand," he said.

The third-place Blaze now sit at 48-52.
