The San Jose Giants picked up a win at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark, topping the Bakersfield Blaze, 5-0. On the mound for San Jose was right-hander Nick Lapping. He played a principal role in the triumph. Lapping, now 7-4, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 4, and allowing no runs. Bryan Schmidt notched his 5th save of the season.

Making an impact for San Jose was first baseman John Barlow. He drilled a double off Sal Vera in the top of the first. For the game, Barlow went 2-4 with a double and a walk.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Barlow told the San Jose Herald.
