The Bakersfield Blaze got a sterling performance from pitcher Matt Germain, but the Stockton Ports still prevailed, 6-2. Germain threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner was Stockton reliever Alex Ponce, now 2-4. The loser was Hector Sandoval. The Ports move to 54-47 with the win, while the Blaze drop to 42-59.

Stockton used the timely hitting of Juan Martinez to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Ports on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Stockton manager Emilio Flores. "Our pregame was pretty good."
