The Lancaster JetHawks had no problem beating the Bakersfield Blaze, 11-2, at The Hanger. Chris Babcock led the way. He was 3-5 with 2 home runs and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 3 for Lancaster. Jim Grangroth got the win, improving to 7-6. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 4. Lancaster, at 68-43, occupies second place in the South Division.

Marco Gonzalez had a big grand slam home run for the JetHawks in the bottom of the eighth inning. With Lancaster leading 5-2 and the bases loaded, he sized up a screwball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Andres Tomassini and punished it. The result was his 15th home run of the season, which put the JetHawks on top, 9-2.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Bakersfield manager Matt Kolb. "They pounded us."
