Giants Win Thriller, 4-3
The San Jose Giants topped the Stockton Ports, 4-3, in California League action at San Jose Municipal Stadium. The standout performance belonged to San Jose pitcher and San José de Guanipa, Venezuela, native Antan Channer. Lee Barsa, now 3-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. San Jose is second in the North Division with a record of 59-54.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for San Jose. That's when 22-year old third baseman Danny Archuleta hit a 2-run double off Eric Hartley to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"It's what good teams do, find a way to win," said Channer.
