Blaze 3-1 Victors Over Stockton
|
Bakersfield pitcher Tom Frye had a large part in his team beating the Stockton Ports, 3-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Frye yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-10. The Blaze now have a mark of 50-67.
Charlie Smith helped out the Bakersfield cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the center fielder went 3 for 4 with a triple, a double, and a walk.
"We didn't string enough hits together to win the game," said tight-lipped Stockton manager Mark Zoss. "Obviously."
