Bakersfield Wins, 5-4, in Extra Innings
The Bakersfield Blaze racked up a win at LoanMart Field, bumping off the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, 5-4, in 10 innings. Marty Oliver, who started for Bakersfield, pitched effectively for his team. Bakersfield reliever Ken Ralston snagged the win, upping his record to 5-6. Jon Latham shouldered the loss. With the win, Bakersfield has a record of 57-61. Rancho Cucamonga falls to 83-35.

Bakersfield won the game in part because of Eric Borer. The designated hitter ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Blaze ahead, 4-2. For the game, Borer had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
