The Modesto Nuts knocked off the Visalia Rawhide, 4-2, in California League action at Recreation Park. Modesto pitcher and Washington, District of Columbia, native Nate Jeffries had an outstanding performance. The winner was Jeffries. He threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Ryan Pfaltzgraff. Getting the save was Jon Uribe, his 8th.

The Rawhide had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Nuts going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old first baseman Brett Meyer came to the plate. Meyer hit a solo home run on a first pitch sinker from Visalia hurler Ryan Pfaltzgraff. It was Meyer's 2nd home run of the year.

Said losing manager Josh Millender: "Not taking anything away from them, but we swung the bats better than what it showed."

The first-place Nuts now sit at 72-50.
