The Modesto Nuts knocked off the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, 11-4, at John Thurman Field. Ron Tidwell was a big reason Modesto won. The second baseman was 3 for 5 with a triple and a double, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Picking up the save was Eric Fox. He's now 16 for 26 in save chances. The first-place Nuts, at 75-48, now lead their division by 4 games.

In the bottom of the first, Leon Robbins delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Modesto catcher hit a 2-run single, putting the Nuts in front, 11-4.

Tidwell told the Modesto Gazette: "Don't care what other people think. Ron knows who Ron is."
