Ports Go Down to Defeat, 5-3
|
The Bakersfield Blaze knocked off the Stockton Ports, 5-3, in California League action at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. Bakersfield pitcher and Tamarac, Florida, native Paul Roe had an outstanding performance. By defeating Stockton, the 4th-place Blaze improved to 60-64.
The Blaze got a big hit from right fielder Joel Maxwell. In the bottom of the sixth, Maxwell smacked a grand slam home run off Stockton pitcher Chris Scumaci. It was his 9th home run of the season. Suddenly, the Blaze were ahead, 4-2.
"I really like what we did out there today," Roe said after the game.
