JetHawks Fall Short, 4-3, at Stockton
Banner Island Ballpark was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Stockton Ports and Lancaster JetHawks.

The Stockton Ports did just enough to sneak past the Lancaster JetHawks, 4-3, at Banner Island Ballpark. Stockton pitcher Mike Pigg, in particular, had a standout performance. Stockton reliever Robby Melena picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jalen Hickey was tagged with the loss. Steve Mitchell locked down his 18th save.

Had Matt Wiley not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Wiley hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Ports.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Stockton manager Emilio Flores. "It's usually not just one thing."

Stockton now has a record of 62-62 with the win.
