High Desert Drops Lake Elsinore in Pitchers' Duel
|
In a tight game between the High Desert Mavericks and the Lake Elsinore Storm, pitcher Jim Reich was terrific on the mound. The High Desert left-hander helped his team to the 2-1 win. Reich yielded 1 run over 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 10. His record improves to 8-6. Francisco Garcia recorded his 11th save for High Desert.
The Mavericks got a big at-bat from catcher Manny Franco. For the game, Franco was 1 for 2 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 5th double of the season gave High Desert a 2-1 lead.
"Another day, another win. On to the next one," Franco told the High Desert Daily News.
With the win, High Desert has a record of 60-66. Lake Elsinore falls to 66-60.
