The High Desert Mavericks did just enough to sneak past the Lake Elsinore Storm, 5-4, at Stater Bros. Stadium. High Desert pitcher Tyler Lamb, in particular, had a standout performance. Francisco Garcia earned save number 12 this season. At 61-66, the Mavericks find themselves in 4th place in the South Division.

Alex Ruiz had a big 2-run home run for the Mavericks in the bottom of the fourth inning. With High Desert leading 3-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Bill Pierce and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Mavericks on top, 5-0.

"I believe in our guys," said High Desert skipper Danny Alonso. "I like the energy they're playing with."
