Wenk Slugs Giants to 9-6 Win
The San Jose Giants topped the Bakersfield Blaze, 9-6, with designated hitter Gavin Wenk playing a big role. Wenk hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Giants in the win. Marco Valverde, credited with the win in relief, is now 4-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. Nate Parker, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 15th save.

In the top of the eighth, the Giants grabbed the lead when Wenk hit his 7th home run of the season. The 2-run home run off Rui Coucelo made it 8-6, San Jose.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Giants manager Kyle Horn. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."

The Giants raised their record to 64-64.
