San Jose starter Rafael Garibay pitched well against the Modesto Nuts at San Jose Municipal Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. Garibay, now 7-9, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 9, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. The Giants raised their record to 65-64.

Chris Moore had a big 2-run home run for the Giants in the bottom of the second inning. With San Jose leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from Cy Olsen, who is tied for 6th in the CAL in wins with 10, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 5th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Giants ahead, 3-0.

"We hit some balls hard and didn't get rewarded for it," said Modesto manager Steve Kamps.
