Late Rally by Ports Seals 4th Straight Win
|
High Desert got a decent performance from pitcher Jim Reich, but it wasn't enough to beat the Stockton Ports. Stockton won the Stater Bros. Stadium contest, 5-4. Reich threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Ben Haag, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-5. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. Pat Beil finished the game for Stockton and earned his 4th save.
Stockton used the timely hitting of Colin Guard to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Ports on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We've got to kick it in gear soon," said High Desert manager Danny Alonso.
With the victory, the Ports record stands at 60-69.
