Blaze Lose as Giants Stage Late Rally
The San Jose Giants had to overcome a good performance from Bakersfield pitcher Sal Vera to claim a 2-0 win at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. Vera went 7 innings and allowed no runs. San Jose reliever Brian Young picked up the win to move to 7-3. Scott Baker suffered the loss. San Jose goes to 83-47, Bakersfield to 62-68.

San Jose took a 1-0 lead on Chris McCobb's 7th home run of the season. The solo home run, which McCobb hit in the top of the eighth, left Bakersfield pitcher Scott Baker visibly frustrated.

"We're scuffling right now," said losing manager Jerry Zuniga.
