The Modesto Nuts picked up a win at John Thurman Field, dropping the Bakersfield Blaze, 10-3. David Soto was the difference-maker. Modesto raised its record to 69-61 with the win.

Making an impact for the home team was Warren Schlueter. In the bottom of the third, the 21-year old center fielder had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. That made the score 3-1, Nuts.

"I just made my pitches," said Soto, "and the ball kept missing the bat."
