Rockies Deal Mets 4-2 Setback
|
Behind a solid performance from first baseman Jim Davis, the Colorado Rockies defeated the New York Mets, 4-2. Davis hit 2 home runs for the Rockies. Colorado reliever Angel Cruz picked up the win, while Kerry Moreno took the loss for New York. The win brings the Rockies to 8-6, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Colorado got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Mike Woodard. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rockies ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.
"Good win for us," said Davis. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."
