Athletics Take Tight Tangle
|
The Oakland Athletics and Houston Astros put on quite a show.
The Oakland Athletics had to overcome a big game from Houston left fielder Dimas Chamissa to leave Minute Maid Park with a victory. And they did, winning, 7-6, in 10 innings. Chamissa was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Oakland pitcher Wade Ray earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Luis Urias suffered the loss.
Mario Santiago was 1-4 with a walk for Oakland. With one out and the game tied in the top of the tenth inning, Santiago, who finished 3rd in the NL in triples with 12 in 2106, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Houston hurler Luis Urias, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Athletics a 7-6 lead.
In postgame comments, Santiago said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
The win has Oakland at 7-8.
