Detroit designated hitter Steve Culley had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-4, to Cleveland at Comerica Park. Culley was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Dustin Brace earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 4-0. Miguel Ortega collected his 1st save.

Cleveland took a 5-4 lead on Mike Davenport's 2nd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Davenport hit in the top of the ninth, left Detroit pitcher Scott Duree visibly frustrated.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Davenport.

The Tigers drop to 5-11.
