Victory Over Rangers Takes Pittsburgh to 9-6
Pittsburgh beat Texas in a rain-soaked ballgame.

Texas had no answer for Pittsburgh Pirates hurler Josh Schumann, who overwhelmed Rangers hitters as the Pirates coasted to victory, 7-1. The winner was Schumann. He threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Pat Yarnall.

The Pirates got a big at-bat from center fielder Raul Rodriguez. For the game, Rodriguez was 2-4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Pittsburgh a 3-1 lead.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Rodriguez, "one at-bat at a time."
