The Lake Elsinore Storm topped the High Desert Mavericks, 4-0, in California League action at Lake Elsinore Diamond. The standout performance belonged to Lake Elsinore pitcher and Camden, New Jersey, native Matt Cant. The second-place Storm hiked their record to 73-58.

Cant, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 4 in 8 innings and gave up no runs.

Cant told a Lake Elsinore Citizen reporter that he was "very pleased" with the win.
