Bakersfield Falls Again, 2-1

The Lancaster JetHawks nipped the Bakersfield Blaze, 2-1, at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. Lancaster pitcher Jose Diaz, in particular, starred. In 7.2 innings, Diaz surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Manny Storm wrapped it up, recording his 9th save.
It could have been a different outcome for Lancaster, had it not been for Alex Ruiz, the 23-year old second baseman . Ruiz contributed a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put Lancaster up, 2-0.
"We missed opportunities once again," said losing manager Matt Kolb.
The setback makes Bakersfield 52-79.
