Murphy Lifts Quakes to 11-4 Triumph
The 11-4 Rancho Cucamonga win over High Desert was due largely to Chad Murphy. The Quakes center fielder hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Humberto Rivera, the winner, is now 14-4. He struck out 7 and walked 1 over 7 innings, while allowing 4 runs on 7 hits. The South Division-leading Quakes have a record of 93-38.

Sean Connell had a big 2-run home run for the Quakes in the top of the third inning. With Rancho Cucamonga leading 3-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Gabe Converse and punished it. The result was his 14th home run of the season, which put the Quakes on top, 5-1.

"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Murphy.
