Lake Elsinore pitcher Marco Chavez had a large part in his team beating the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, 8-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Jesse Kurcz wrapped it up, recording his 3rd save. The loss makes Rancho Cucamonga 80-52.

In the bottom of the second inning, center fielder John Bertrand had a 2-run home run for Lake Elsinore. It was his 14th home run of the season and put the Storm on top, 2-1.

"They beat us fair and square," Rancho Cucamonga skipper Arnold McAfee said.
