The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes topped the Lake Elsinore Storm, 2-1, in California League action at Lake Elsinore Diamond. The standout performance belonged to Rancho Cucamonga pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Nelson Escobedo. Escobedo, now 10-9, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Rancho Cucamonga is 80-53 and Lake Elsinore, with the loss, 85-48.
Miguel Pozo had a direct impact on the outcome. Pozo contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Rancho Cucamonga up, 2-1.
