The Oakland Athletics picked up a win at O.co Coliseum, knocking off the Boston Red Sox, 6-5. On the mound for Oakland was right-hander David Pearson, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winning pitcher was Pearson, now 1-2. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. Getting the save was Jim Watson, his 3rd.
Ivan Suarez, who is tied for 9th in the AL in RBI with 13, contributed to the Oakland win with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Suarez said. "That's how it goes."
