Reds Drop Braves, 9-5, with Late Score
|
Earl Boivin was a major factor in the 9-5 Cincinnati win over Atlanta. The Reds second baseman was 3-5 with a triple and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Paul Edler earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. His record is now 1-0. The win puts Cincinnati at 9-8.
Cincinnati used a clutch hit from Jonathan Nelson to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Reds ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The harder you work," said Boivin, "the luckier you get."
