The San Diego Padres faced a tough opponent in Los Angeles pitcher Billy Benedict, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Pound at Seaport Village by a final score of 5-1. Benedict went 6 innings and allowed 4 runs. Vinny Herrick snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-0 on the season. Billy Benedict suffered the loss. Now 13-4, the 2107 Padres have been phenomenal so far.

The Padres got a big at-bat from center fielder Mike McNamara. For the game, McNamara was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 6th double of the season gave San Diego a 2-1 lead.

"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," McNamara told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
