Williams reaches base 5 times, Los Angeles Gets 11-6 Victory
|
The Los Angeles Dodgers topped the St. Louis Cardinals, 11-6, the lion's share of the credit going to first baseman Jon Williams. On the day, Williams was 2-2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Dodgers. Picking up the win was Billy Benedict. He went 7 innings, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits. The left--hander struck out 6 and walked 2. St. Louis is 11-7 after the defeat.
In the bottom of the sixth, Los Angeles first baseman Gilberto Ruiz gave his team the lead. With no one out and a runner on 1st, Agony hit his 3rd home run of the year. St. Louis pitcher Chris Fama surrendered it. With that, the Dodgers jumped in front, 5-4.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Williams.
