San Francisco Triumphs with Late Surge
The Cincinnati Reds got a superb performance from pitcher Jason Mele, but the San Francisco Giants still won the game, 3-1. Mele threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Jim Doll, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save. The loss makes Cincinnati 12-6.

San Francisco took the lead, 3-1, on Mike Pothast's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Cincinnati pitcher Zion Carter in the bottom of the eighth.

"Tough loss," said Cincinnati manager BJ Gorman. "But we'll learn from it."
