With Late Score, Cubs Beat Padres
|
Starting pitcher Fumikazu Nakahama pitched well enough to help the Chicago Cubs beat the San Diego Padres, 4-3. The win puts Chicago at 10-8.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Chicago. That's when 23-year old center fielder Brian Buell hit a run-scoring double off Joel Mazzaferro to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"I thought we competed really well," said Cubs manager Vin Calia. "I thought the energy was really good."
