Kyle Damm did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to spare the Pittsburgh Pirates an extra-inning, 8-7 loss to the Cincinnati Reds at PNC Park. Damm was 3 for 5 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Zion Carter earned the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-3. The Pirates fall to 7-12 and continue their lackluster start in 2108.

Cincinnati used the clutch hitting of Michael Draper to snag the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Reds ahead, 8-7. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"We battled our tails off to get this win," said Cincinnati manager BJ Gorman.
