Athletics Earn 7-5 Home Win
|
The bat of Robert Morales helped the Oakland Athletics top the Boston Red Sox, 7-5. Morales went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Oakland. Oakland reliever Rick Trojanowski picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Justin Compton took the loss. Jesus Rivera earned the save for Oakland, his 7th of the year.
Oakland took advantage of an error in the bottom of the seventh inning. The game was tied, 5-5, when Cameron Gordon hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Athletics in front, 6-5.
Morales told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
The Red Sox drop to 9-10 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2111 season.
