Cardinals Beat Astros in 13
|
The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Houston Astros, 4-3, in 13 innings in National League action at Busch Stadium. St. Louis pitcher Juan Castillo had a standout performance. St. Louis reliever John Neal picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Miguel Fregoso was saddled with the loss. The Cardinals raised their record to 14-6.
The Cardinals got a clutch hit from center fielder Mario Santiago. In the bottom of the 13th, he hit a run-scoring single to left, to win the game for the Cardinals.
"We had a chance to win," said Houston manager Zeb Currier, "but we didn't get it done."
