Braves Bridle Giants, 3-2
|
The Atlanta Braves racked up a win at Coca-Cola Field, bumping off the San Francisco Giants, 3-2. Andy Bourdeau, who started for Atlanta, pitched effectively for his team. Bill Hanley closed the game out for Atlanta, earning his 4th save. San Francisco is now 6-15.
The Braves got a big at-bat from first baseman Jimmy Powell. For the game, Powell went 1 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Atlanta a 3-2 lead.
"Andy did a good job of managing their lineup," said Atlanta manager Dan Hoagland.
