Mariners Net 3-1 Win Over Rangers
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers.
The Seattle Mariners took Texas pitcher Bernie Gallegos's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Globe Life Park in Arlington. The final score had Seattle getting past the Rangers, 3-1. Gallegos went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 5. Brad Thomas, 2-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Earning his 1st save for Seattle was Tom Kingman.
John Brownfield, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2095, aided the Seattle cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman went 1 for 4.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Seattle manager Jamie Clark said.
Texas falls to 9-13.
