Amaya drives in 5 runs in Baltimore Win
|
The Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees completed their game despite the inclement weather.
The Baltimore Orioles beat the New York Yankees, 8-7, in part because of second baseman Ramiro Amaya. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5. Tony Aguirre came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Tim Huntress locked down his 5th save.
Baltimore used the timely hitting of Brian Lannigan to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Orioles on top, 8-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Baltimore manager Art Matlock.
The Orioles raised their record to 13-10.
