Whitaker goes 3-for-4, Leads Blue Jays to Win
|
Greg Whitaker added some punch to the Toronto offense, helping them outmuscle the Tampa Bay Rays, 13-8. In the game, Whitaker, who led the AL in wins above replacement with 6.7 in 2096, was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. The winner in relief was Blake Dickerson. He is now 3-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. With the win, Toronto boosts its record to 15-8.
The Blue Jays got a big at-bat from center fielder John Slaff. For the game, Slaff went 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Toronto a 3-2 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Slaff. "And not try to do too much."
