The San Diego Padres knocked off the Tampa Bay Rays, 5-1, at Jon Nunez Sr. Stadium. Eric Schoonover produced 2 singles and 1 double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 1. Bryant Miller picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Dean Thomas was tagged with the loss. The loss drops Tampa Bay to 11-14.
R.J. Correll, the 24-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Correll contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put San Diego up, 1-0.
