Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for White Sox
|
The Chicago White Sox got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jeremy Merenda, who muffled the Houston offense en route to a tight 2-0 White Sox win at Minute Maid Park. Keith Dragisic, credited with the win, is now 3-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit. Ricky Maldonado finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
Chicago used a clutch hit from Luis Marquina to get the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the White Sox ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
After the game, Marquina told the Chicago News, "Like I've always said, the challenge is what makes this game worth playing."
With the win, Chicago lifts its record to 14-12.
